“It’s time to fly with me!”, roared Dracon.

“Me?”, questioned Dracon Junior.

“Yep, Junior!”

“Mom, Daddy is taking me to fly!”, exclaimed the Junior.

Mom approached Dracon and said,”My dear, are you sure he is ready?”

“Of course, he is more than ready. Don’t worry, I’ve seen his limits that start to fall apart. His capability is now growing and growing; therefore,  it’s time to take him to fly”, Dracon said in confidence.

“Dad, I am ready to fly today!”

“Junior, I am not talking about today, I am talking about next year to master your wings.”

Junior felt his father let him down and asked, “Why?”

“Junior, look at your wings that could not lift you up not even one quarter inch above the ground. It takes a lot of practice for many days, many weeks, and many months to master your wings.”

After painstaking practices of 12 months, Junior’s wings were ready. Dracon congratulated.

“Junior. Your wings are strong enough to carry you up.’

“Now I am ready to fly now, Dad!”

“Junior, no, you are not going to fly now. You now must learn how to breathe fire.” Dracon explained. “You cannot fly without breathing fire or you will die.”

“How do I die,” Junior asked,” without breathing fire?”

“Junior, if you flew above the ground – no matter how high, without learning how to regulate your breathing, you would explode in flames because of your body that needs to keep your breathing and flying in balance with air pressure. In a way, you would be a flying bomb!”

After torturing exercises of 12 months, Junior mastered his fire breathing along with his wings.

“Well done, Junior,” Dracon congratulated.

“Dad, I am ready to fly and breathe fire now!”

Dracon sighed,”No, you are not ready to fly and breathe fire.”

“Dad!” screamed the Junior, almost expelling fire on his dad.

“Watch out your breathing,” warned Dracon, “you almost hit me with your fire!”

“Sorry, Dad.”

“Now, it’s time for you to feast on animals and people. You will have to chase them and breathe fire on them. Your weight would be like a feather in the air if you fly now. You need to grow bigger and heavier to control the wind. Okay Junior?”

After one year of gobbling up animals and people, Junior became a bigger and heavier dragon. Dracon congratulated Junior.

Junior hesitated to ask him to be ready as he was twice declined by his dad. Dracon recognized his hesitation and smiled. “I know what you are thinking,” Dracon, “Junior, you are ready to fly, breathe, and eat now!”

“Yes!,” Junior roared with his two fists up in the air. He threw fire up in the air thunderously.

“Am I ready to go, Dad?”

“Go wherever you want but you must be home on time as usual, Junior.”

“Sure, see you then!”

Junior ran thunderously and flapped up in the air with his huge wings. He smelled the air, felt the wind, and saw a beautiful scene with the dawn sun’s rays across the sky. He felt so free and so powerful.

Dracon watched him flying off to the air and was very proud of him for the past three years of training. Dracon let him go for the day.

Junior saw five cows in the valley. Flying down, he reared his head scales flashing under the scorching sun. With a deep, rumbling growl that echoed through the valley, he opened his jaws wide. A moment later, a flame burst forth engulfing the area below him. The fire roared like a wild beast, unleashed and untamable as cows scrambled to escape its wrath. The heat was extreme, a flaming wave that seemed to warp the very thin air. Those caught in his fiery breath had no chance. Their bellows were lost amidst the inferno. He flew back and gobbled them up in one swallow. He was proudest of his first meal.

The five overcooked cows in Junior’s tummy were rejected by the farmer because they were useless to him because of their stinky flatulence.

Junior felt funny and heard rumbles in his stomach. He felt not comfortable and decided to go back home.

On his way home, he started feeling a lot of air in his stomach. He hiccuped. A huge explosion in the air.

THE END
