I have tried to write a short story; however, my ideas are conflicting within my mind. I can’t settle on the right one to write. Indeed, I have many other ideas that tend to distract me from choosing one. As of now, I am on the verge of choosing a political thriller as my topic. Perhaps, I should force myself to write a short story within the political thriller category. I wonder if this approach of ‘forcing myself’ will be effective in helping me write.
My concept for a political thriller in a short story composition involves writing about a limited number of characters and a story that is less complicated by numerous situations. Now, the question arises: which country should I set it in? I am familiar with the politics of the USA and Canada, having studied politics at universities in both countries. Maybe I should write about the international conflicts between Canada and the USA.
I have observed that far-right and right-wing political parties are gaining ground, while the centre-right, centre, and centre-left are in decline. Currently, Canada and the USA are embroiled in political actions. Social media could be an excellent platform for the exchange of information; however, the spread of false and hateful information is surging.
The considerations mentioned above have led me to decide to attempt writing a political thriller. I hope I will succeed. If not, I will not delete the unfinished draft, as I might try again to write it in the future, or perhaps I will never finish it.
